A log from an authentic radio conversation outside Newfoundland.
The americans: Please change your course 15 deg. to the north, to avoid collission.
The canadians: I ask YOU to change YOUR course 15 deg. to the south, to avoid collission.
The americans: This is the captain of an american military ship. I say again: Change YOUR course!
The canadians: No, I say again: YOU should change YOUR course.
The americans: This is the hangar ship USS Lincoln. The next-biggest ship in the american atlantic navy. We are supported by three torpedo boats and a ship with nuclear weapons. I demand you to change YOUR course 15 deg. or we will take the appropriate actions to secure the safety of this ship.
The canadians: This is a lighthouse. Over.
